Description

The objective of this announcement is to increase
domestic geothermal power
generation by validating and publishing information on the economic and
operating characteristics of improved technology for generation of
electricity
from a greater number of lower temperature geothermal resources than are
currently considered commercially viable in the United States.

To meet the above stated objectives, the GTP is seeking applications that
shall
1) demonstrate technology for generation of electricity from a greater
number
of lower temperature geothermal resources and 2) components and processes
of
the geothermal power plants that result in economical, reliable and
efficient
electrical power generating systems for geothermal applications.

GTP intends to make use of the results of these projects by conducting its
own
independent analysis and communicating the results to the geothermal
community.  General information on the costs of geothermal power systems in
the
U.S. is available from several studies conducted by the Department of
Energy
and the Electric Power Research Institute .
