Veneman Announces Hurricane Agricultural Disaster Assistance For Florida Producers

USDA, FDA and DHS Sign Agreement with NASDA to Make Nation's Agriculture and Food Supply More Secure
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, in partnership with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), today signed a cooperative agreement with the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) to further develop integrated federal-state response plans, in support of the National Response Plan, for food and agricultural emergencies.

Agriculture Secretary Ann M. Veneman announced that first partial counter-cyclical program payment rates for 2004-crop wheat, feed grains, upland cotton, rice, soybeans, other oilseeds and peanuts will be announced soon after the October World Agriculture Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) that is scheduled for release on Oct. 12, 2004.
