Public Transportation

Subway
In Washington, DC, take Metrorail's Yellow or Green
Line to the Archives/Navy Memorial station.
In College Park, take Metrorail's Green Line to the Greenbelt, Fort Totten,
or Prince George's Plaza stations, where you can connect with the R3 Metrobus
to the National Archives.
Bus
In Washington, DC, Metrobuses 30, 32, 34, 36, 53, A42, A46, A48, P1, P2,
P4, P17, P19, and W13 stop at the National Archives on Pennsylvania Avenue.
In College Park, the R3 Metrobus serves Green Line Metro stations at
Greenbelt, Prince George's Plaza, and Fort. Totten. The C8 Metrobus serves the
Red Line Metro station at Glenmont.
Free Shuttle Service
A staff shuttle bus, for use by visitors
on a space-available basis, runs on the hour from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday
through Friday, between the buildings in College Park and downtown Washington.
A free shuttle bus departs Prince George's Plaza from the Belcrest Road side
of the Prince George's Plaza Metro station on Saturdays (see shuttle
schedule).

Disabilities
Entrance
In Washington, DC, the Pennsylvania Avenue entrance is
wheelchair-accessible.
In College Park, the building and parking lot are fully accessible.
Subway
In Washington, DC, the Metrorail System serves the National Archives at the
Archives/Navy Memorial station. The station has an elevator to street level
and is conveniently located directly across the street from the
wheelchair-accessible Pennsylvania Avenue entrance.
In College Park, the nearest subway stop is Prince George's Plaza with bus
service (please see below) to the building.
Bus
The R3 Metrobus stops near the elevator at Metrorail's Prince George's
Plaza subway station. Please note that on weekdays the R3 Metrobus is not
regularly equipped with a wheelchair lift. To arrange for a lift-equipped R3
Metrobus, please call Metrobus ON-CALL Service at 202-862-1825 at least 24
hours in advance and before 2:30 p.m.
Parking
In Washington, DC, prior to your visit special parking passes may be
obtained from the Security Staff, telephone: 202-501-5023.
In College Park, ample handicap parking is available.
Free
Shuttle Service Between DC and College Park
Handicapped access is available on the free shuttle bus between the
National Archives in Washington, DC and the Prince Georges Plaza Metro
(subway) station and the National Archives in College Park, MD. Please
call Beltway Transportation Services at 301-837-3249 in order to make the
necessary arrangements. The shuttle runs on the hour from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
Monday through Friday, between the buildings in Washington, DC and College
Park.
Parking
In Washington, DC, street parking is very limited near the National
Archives.
In College Park, there is free parking.
Food Service
In Washington, DC, there
is no onsite restaurant or
facility in which to store
bag lunches. In good weather,
groups may eat outdoors on
the Mall or at the U.S.
Navy Memorial. Food may
be purchased at nearby
attractions:
In College Park there is
a full-service cafeteria
where meals and snacks may
purchased Monday through
Friday. The cafeteria is
conveniently located on the
first floor adjacent to the
Main Lobby. Breakfast is
served from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a
choice of hot entrees, soups,
salads, daily specials, sandwiches,
and grilled foods is available..
Smoking is permitted on the
outdoor terrace.

After you've seen our nation's most treasured documents in the Rotunda for the Charters of Freedom of the National Archives Building , there's another important stop to make before you leave.

In Washington, DC, visiting groups should
report to the Pennsylvania Avenue entrance between Seventh and Ninth Streets
upon arrival. Buses may discharge and pick up groups at the Pennsylvania
Avenue or Constitution Avenue entrances. Nearby street parking is very
limited.
In College Park, visiting groups should report to the Main
Lobby entrance at 8601 Adelphi Road upon arrival. Buses may discharge and pick
up groups at the Main Lobby entrance.
NARA Nationwide
Nationwide, all NARA sites offer a variety of public programs, exhibits,
and special events during the year, but not all information may be available
online.
