Are my medical records confidential?

Protecting the confidentiality of participants and their medical records is of the highest priority to all PLCO staff members. All of the personal and medical information collected from participants during the course of the PLCO Trial is always stored according to the highest standards of confidentiality. Data, including any information that could be used to identify a participant, are kept securely behind locked doors at the 10 screening centers. All computerized records are identified only by an identification number and all trial reports contain grouped data only.
