Website Accessibility Statement

The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) is committed to making the information presented on its web site at www.opic.gov accessible to all people, including those with disabilities. OPIC has reviewed and revised its website to enhance accessibility for people with disabilities as required by Section 508 of the Workforce Investment Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. As available technology continues to improve, OPIC will continue its efforts to enhance accessibility.

Many of the documents on our web server are in HTML or plain-text (ASCII) formats. Pages in these formats are usually accessible to screen-reading software. We also have a large number of documents in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF), a type that reproduces the exact look of a printed page. PDF document are displayed through Adobe’s free Acrobat Reader but may require additional steps to become accessible to screen readers.

All Adobe PDF (portable document format) document links on this site carry .pdf alternative text labels just after the link to identify the link type to persons using screen readers. In some cases, an HTML or WORD version of the document is also provided. Where an alternative format document is not provided, an "Acrobat" icon is provided nearby that provides a link to the Adobe Systems website. This will allow disabled users to either download a free Adobe Acrobat® Reader plug-in or use Adobe’s PDF-to-HTML conversion option.

The content for most pages containing non-accessible features such as Javascript or applets is available through links to text-only pages. All free-standing images are accompanied by alternative text describing the image.

Most forms on the OPIC website are not intended to be completed and transmitted on-line. They are frequently WORD 97 documents that may be printed out, completed manually and submitted to OPIC via mail or fax. For those web pages with forms that are currently not accessible, the form may also be printed out as an alternative format. In addition, a link has been provided at the top of each page to telephone number or e-mail address to obtain assistance in obtaining the form or filling it out.

Our web staff works continuously to make OPIC's website as accessible, informative and helpful as possible. In general, if you have problems accessing any information, viewing any page with adaptive technology, or using any forms, send email to accessibility@opic.gov.

NOTE: If you have questions that are not specifically related to OPIC's website, please direct them to OPIC's Information Officer.  The web staff cannot answer inquiries regarding OPIC programs.

Thank You!
