Frequently Asked Questions...

I want to order FEMA publications via your World Wide Website, but I can't find an online catalog or order form.
We are hoping to provide both the on-line catalog and on-line order form in the future. Many publications are listed and can be ordered on-line from FEMA's U.S. Fire Administration right now. We'll let you know when the main FEMA catalog is available on-line.

In the meantime, many popular FEMA publications and reports are available on-line in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. Check the on-line FEMA library. Or you can call the FEMA Publications Distribution Center at 1-800-480-2520.

I sent you an E-mail message a long time ago, but I never got a response. What gives?
We welcome input to fema.gov using our on-line comment form or E-mail to FEMAopa@dhs.gov, but due to the volume of E-mail we can't respond to every message. However, be assured that we read every single E-mail message we receive, and answer messages whenever appropriate and when our resources permit.

I want to receive a floodplain map from FEMA. Can I get it online?
You can see some floodplain data in the FEMA Map Service Center on-line at fema.gov. You can call and order all floodplain maps in the U.S. by calling toll-free 1-800-358-9616.

I think that some people in my neighborhood are trying to cheat the federal government out of disaster money. They don't seem to have the damage they claim they have, and they're bragging about it. Who can I report disaster fraud to?
Call the FEMA Inspector General Waste, Fraud and Abuse Hotline at 1-800-323-8603. You do not have to provide your name.

I have questions about flood insurance. Who do I call?
Call your local, licensed casualty or property insurance agent, call the National Flood Insurance Hotline at 1-800-427-4661, or see National Flood Insurance.

Can I register for federal disaster assistance on the Internet? I live in an area declared a major disaster area by the President.
We're sorry, but currently we are unable to take disaster assistance applications via the Internet. However, a toll-free number is available to accept applications right over the phone. The number is 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) (1-800-462-7585 TDD for Speech and Hearing Impaired.) Hours of operation vary throughout the year depending on the severity and number of disasters.... however, applications are normally accepted five days a week (and sometimes seven days a week including weekends) after a disaster has been declared by the President.
