TVA is a corporation wholly owned by the U. S. government that finances its capital requirements through internally generated funds and power program financings. TVA receives no appropriations from Congress to fund its power operations, its management of the nation's fifth-largest river system, its environmental stewardship activities, or its economic development programs. TVA Board Approves 2005 Budget, Power Rates To Remain Stable

The TVA Board of Directors met on Wednesday, September 22, and approved TVA's 2005 budget. The TVA Board, by a 2 to 1 vote, approved a budget for 2005 that holds electric rates stable, continues the trend of reducing financing obligations and provides capital for clean-air improvements, new power generation, and transmission-system upgrades.
