Incoming spam may be clogging your email box. But did you know that the settings on your servers may make it easier for spammers to send more junk email? This Web page has information about the efforts of an international government partnership to let individuals and organizations know that their mail servers or proxy servers can be abused by spammers.

"Open proxies" and "open relays" allow unauthorized people to route their spam through your server. These unsecured servers are all over the globe. To spread the word, an international group of government agencies has emailed a letter, translated into 20 different languages, to the managers of potentially unsecured servers worldwide. The letter explains what open proxy and open relay servers are and some of the problems they cause. To view the letter, click on the links below.
