The Transition to Sentencing Guidelines, 1986-90: Summary

This Discussion Paper from the BJS Federal Justice Statistics Program analyzes the factors that affect sentencing determinations under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines. The impact of race on sentencing is evaluated for a variety of Federal offenses including drug trafficking, bank robbery, weapons offenses, fraud, larceny, and embezzlement.
