Criminal Victimization Survey Software

A software program for localities to conduct their own telephone surveys of residents to collect data on crime victimization, attitudes toward policing, and other community-related issues.

The CD-ROM contains the software and electronic copies of:

Printed copies of these documents are bundled with the CD-ROM . The electronic files can be downloaded for free from the BJS website.

Federal Justice Statistics Program

Each year contains data that describe the more than 100,000 offenders processed in the Federal criminal justice system from October 1 through September 30. The CD package includes 2 CD's with 25 ASCII data files, portable document format (PDF) files for the Compendium of Federal Justice Statistics, statistical software setup files, and a comprehensive codebook for data analysis. Data are provided from arrest and booking by the U.S. Marshals Service through prosecution, adjudication and corrections stages.

State Court Processing Statistics (SCPS)

This CD includes biennial data on the processing of felony defendants in State courts of the Nation's 75 most populous counties. It presents data on the demographic characteristics, criminal history, pretrial processing, adjudication, and sentencing of felony defendants in State courts in large urban counties. The data sets included are comprised of the standardized variables that appear in each SCPS data series between 1990 and 1998. The BJS reports based on these data, Felony Defendants in Large Urban Counties, are also included.
