EPA proposes reissuance of an NPDES permit to Kennecott Greens Creek Mine, Admiralty Island, Alaska . Public comments will be received between October 28 and November 29, 2004.

EPA proposes modification of the NPDES Permit issued to Alyeska Pipeline Service Company for discharge from the Valdez Marine Terminal, Valdez, Alaska. Public comments will be received between October 27 and November 26, 2004.

EPA proposes reissuance of NPDES Permits for the Cities of Grangeville, Inkom, Lava Hot Springs, Montpelier, & Wilder and for Elk Valley Subdivision and Southside Water & Sewer District, all in Idaho. Public comments will be received between October 27 and November 26, 2004.

EPA proposes two NPDES permits for municipal storm sewer systems to discharge into Chena River and other nearby waters in the greater Fairbanks, Alaska, area. Public comment on both permits will be accepted through December 2, 2004.

EPA is extending the public comment period on the draft NPDES permit for the US Coast Guard Integrated Support Command Kodiak, discharging to St. Paul Harbor on Kodiak Island near Kodiak, Alaska. The extended public comment period is 09/17/04--11/02/04.

EPA approved Washington Department of Ecology's submittal of fecal coliform bacteria TMDL for the Issaquah Creek Basin on October 1, 2004. Exit EPA

EPA invites public comments on the draft Underground Injection Control (UIC) permit and associated aquifer exemption for BP Exploration (Alaska) to construct and operate of one Class I non-hazardous industrial waste injection well at the Milne Point Unit about 10 miles northwest of the main Prudhoe Bay field complex. Comments are due by November 1, 2004. EPA will issue no separate public notice and may finalize the permit as drafted if no substantive comments are received by the close of the public comment period.

EPA approved Idaho and Oregon Department of Environmental Quality's submittal of Phosphorus, Dissolved Oxygen, Temperature, Sediment, Pesticide and Total Dissolved Gas TMDLs for the Snake River - Hells Canyon as described in EPA's press release.

  • EPA approved Water Quality Standards for Kalispel Indian Community on the Kalispel Reservation in accordance with the Clean Water Act on June 24, 2004.

Week of June 21

  • EPA has granted water quality standards variances to the municipalities of Smelterville, Mullan and Page, Idaho. Smelterville and Page received variances for cadmium, zinc, and lead, and Mullan received variances for cadmium and zinc.
  • EPA has issued NPDES permits for the City of Smelterville, Idaho and the South Fork Coeur d'Alene River Sewer District's Mullan and Page wastewater treatment plants, discharging to the South Fork Coeur d'Alene River. The permits will be effective August 1, 2004 and will expire on August 1, 2009.
  • Comments invited on CBNT Hylebos Cleanup Agreement - June 2004 (2 page 81 KB .pdf)
  • EPA has issued two NPDES General Permits for Small Sewage Treatment Plants in Alaska, one for facilities discharging to fresh water and the other for facilities discharging to marine water. The permits will be effective July 21, 2004 and will expire on July 21, 2009. The Notice of Availability was published in the Federal Register and is included on the General Permits page.
  • EPA invites public comments on the draft NPDES permit for the City of Harrison, Idaho, discharging to Anderson Slough. The public comment period is 06/24/04--07/23/04.
  • EPA invites public comments on the draft NPDES permit for the Cambridge Sewer Association discharging to the Weiser River at the Rush Creek confluence. The public comment period is 06/24/04--07/23/04.
  • EPA invites public comments on the draft NPDES permits for the cities of Bovill, Craigmont, Genesee, Kendrick, and Potlatch, Idaho discharging to various receiving waters. The public comment period is 06/24/04--07/23/04.

Lower Duwamish Waterway remodeled

EPA invites public comments on the draft modification for the NPDES permit for the BP Northstar Facility discharging to the Beaufort Sea. The public comment period is 04/23/04--05/24/04.

EPA has posted a Modification for the NPDES permit for the City of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. This modification is effective May 13, 2004; the expiration date remains at November 2, 2004.

EPA has issued Modifications for two NPDES General Permits for Log Transfer Facilities in Alaska, one for pre-1985 facilities and the other for post-1985 facilities; the modifications will be effective on April 27, 2004; the permits expire on March 21, 2005. The Notice of Availability was published in the Federal Register on April 13, 2004 and is included on the General Permits page.

EPA issued final NPDES permits in Washington for the Gooseberry Point and Sandy Point Wastewater Treatment Plants on the Lummi Indian Reservation, near Bellingham; the permits are effective June 1, 2004-May 31,2009.

EPA issued a final NPDES permit for the City of Mackay, Idaho, effective June 1, 2004 and May 31, 2009.

Week of March 15

Initial project proposals from State water quality agencies in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington due to EPA by April 30.
Funding is to be used to advance innovation and improvements in water quality programs, primarily associated with the federal wastewater permits program (NPDES program).

On March 18, 2004, EPA issued a NPDES permit modification forTeck-Pogo Mine (38 miles NE of Delta Junction), Alaska to change the effective and expiration dates which are now effective from April 16, 2004 through March 31, 2009.

    Biscuit Fire EIS Comments to the U.S. Forest Service

    On February 27, 2004, EPA partially approved Alaska Water Quality Standard (WQS) revisions.

    EPA approved new or revised Oregon Water Quality Standards for Temperature, Inter-Gravel Dissolved Oxygen and Antidegradation in accordance with the Clean Water Act on March 2, 2004.

    EPA Region 10, with extensive involvement from the Coeur d’Alene Tribe (CDAT) and Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, is proposing to establish a total maximum daily load (TMDL) to identify the necessary reductions for sediment for portions of Lake Creek that are within the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Reservation. Public meeting scheduled on March 15 and comments period ends on April 5, 2004.

    EPA issued final NPDES Permits for the Cities of Homedale, Marsing, New Meadows and Parma, and Riverside Sewer District in Idaho, effective May 1, 2004 to April 20, 2009.

    2004 National Brownfields Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup Grants Competition Reopened. This year you may be eligible to apply for these grants even if you acquired properties before the passage of the Small Business Liability Relief and Brownfields Revitalization Act on January 11, 2002. Grant proposals under this "re-opened" competition must be submitted by March 9th, 2004.

    The Watershed Restoration Unit of EPA Region 10 is currently soliciting proposals from state and tribal agencies in Alaska, Oregon, Idaho and Washington to support Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL, water cleanup plans) development for waterbodies located in Alaska, Oregon, Idaho and Washington.
