FOREST

Forest History Society
The INVADERS Database is a comprehensive database of exotic plant names and weed distribution records for five states in the northwestern United States. The spatial and temporal spread of weeds can be displayed using the historic distribution records in INVADERS. The INVADERS web site contains actual examples of how land management and weed regulatory agencies are using these data to improve their weed management programs. Noxious weed listings are provided for all US states and six southern tier Canadian provinces.  The Forest History Society presently has three databases that can be searched on this site:

A bibliography containing annotated descriptions of over 34,000 books, articles, and dissertations on topics in the fields of forest, conservation, and environmental history.
A guide to archival collections in the fields of forest, conservation, and environmental history that are housed in over 450 repositories across North America and throughout the world.

A catalog of the holdings of the U.S. Forest Service Headquarters History Collection housed at the Forest History Society.

SEED IMAGES (Colorado State University)
This database contains seed pictures and descriptions of over 700 species of seeds. The database contains all of the seeds required to pass the Registered Seed Technologists examination and the Association of Official Seed Analyst's Certification.

Seedimages.com contains the noxious weed seeds of each individual states as administered by the Federal Seed Act. The seed database directly links to each state for an individual noxious weed seed list. This allows the user to identify the noxious weed seed and determine if the seed is Prohibited (Primary) or Restricted (Secondary). As seed moves from state to state and internationally, it is necessary to identify all noxious weed seeds present in samples being tested. This database will help seed analysts, seed science educators, seed conditioners, farmers, seed lablelers, fieldmen, and everyone associatied with the seed industry to identify noxious weeds.

The scientific names used in this seed database are those listed in the Federal Seed Act, Uniform Classification of Weed and Crop Seeds, AOSA Handbook No. 25, and USDA, National Plant Germplasm system's Germplasm Resources Information Network (GRIN).

Scientific names and their synonyms may be found on the National Plant Germplasm System webpage:
