Economic Stimulus Bill Needed
Statement by the Press Secretary
The Senate was right to reject what in large measure was nothing more
than a Democrat spending proposal. The package fails in its
basic purpose to stimulate the economy.
The President believes that the House and Senate tax writers should
now come together quickly to produce a bipartisan economic stimulus
bill that encourages consumer spending, promotes business
investment and helps dislocated workers.
