Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Counselor Training-New Counselor

Equal Employment Opportunity counseling is required by 29 CFR Part 1614, and it is an essential part of the Federal system for addressing allegations of discrimination raised by employees and applicants.  Pursuant to 29 CFR Part 1614, Federal Agencies are required to provide sufficient resources to their equal employment opportunity program and provide prompt, fair and impartial processing of complaints.  Additionally, 29 CFR Part 1614 and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's Management Directive-110, requires all new EEO counselors to receive a minimum of thirty-two (32) hours training prior to assuming EEO counseling duties.  Accordingly, Basic EEO Counselor training is provided every two years in order to maintain a cadre of qualified EEO counselors in CMS.
