POLICE CHIEF OF AL ANBAR PROVINCE DETAINED

RAMADI, Iraq -- At 12:14 p.m. today, Multi-National Forces detained Al Anbar Police Chief Ja’adan Mohammed Alwan in Ramadi.
Ja’adan is suspected of corruption and involvement in criminal activities to include accepting bribes, extortion, embezzling funds, as well as possible connections with kidnapping and murder.
Ja’adan’s detention has been authorized by the Ministry of Interior. The governor of Al Anbar province has been notified.
In the wake of Ja’adan’s detention, the governor is expected to select an interim police chief to hold office until a permanent replacement is appointed by the Ministry of Interior.
