Members

Consists of a core of 12 members including the Chair selected by the Commissioner of Food and Drugs for overlapping terms of four years. Members are selected from among authorities in the fields of chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, clinical research, and other scientific disciplines. (Roster)

Function

Provides advice primarily to the Associate Commissioner for Science and Health and, as needed, to the Commissioner and other appropriate officials on specific complex and technical issues as well as emerging issues within the scientific community in industry and academia.
