About the Division of Laboratory Systems (DLS)
spacer
spacer
The Division of Laboratory Systems is one of three divisions of the Public Health Practice Program Office. We are approximately 90 people - laboratory scientists, statisticians, computer specialists, physicians, and those who provide administrative skills to support our work. While most of us are Atlanta-based, six of our laboratory scientists work in regional training offices (see NLTN). Our work is directed toward improving the quality of laboratory practice.

Our Vision: Working together to ensure excellence in laboratory practice for a healthy tomorrow.

Our Mission: To improve the quality of laboratory practices by providing global leadership and fostering partnerships and collaborations, as we conduct research and surveillance, disseminate information, provide training and education, develop and promote standards and guidelines, and assess technologies and their applications in support of the continuous improvement of the public's health.

Our Values: Members of the Division of Laboratory Systems are committed to the public and to each other. We strive to be a dynamic organization that pursues knowledge and responds creatively to change. We embrace the concepts of honesty, integrity, trust, mutual respect, and accountability.

We endeavor to create and maintain a professional and stimulating work environment, in which we recognize the importance of every individual and of working together. We encourage the career growth and development of our members while promoting teamwork and collaboration.
