New Grant Proposal Guide
A new version of the NSF Grant Proposal Guide (GPG) (NSF 04-2)
is now available. It is effective for proposals submitted on or
after October 1, 2003 and supercedes all prior versions of the GPG.
The Guide can be accessed at http://www.nsf.gov/pubsys/ods/getpub.cfm?gpg.
Significant changes include:
- This revision implements an increase in the threshold for proposals submitted to the Small Grants for Exploratory Research (SGER) Program. For more detailed information, the Guide can be accessed at http://www.nsf.gov/pubsys/ods/getpub.cfm?gpg>
- Guidance on implementation of Important Notice 127, dated July
8, 2002, entitled, Implementation of new Grant Proposal Guide
Requirements Related to the Broader Impacts Criterion. This Important
Notice reinforces the importance of addressing both criteria in
the preparation and review of proposals submitted to NSF and specifies
that, effective October 1, 2002, NSF will return without review
proposals that do not separately address both merit review criteria
within the Project Summary;
- New FastLane enhancements for proposal withdrawals and proposal
file updates;
- Updated listing of scenarios in which a proposal may be returned
without review by NSF; and
- New guidance on inclusion of Universal Resource Locators (URLs)
in the Project Description.
A by-chapter summary of significant changes is available in the
document to assist the user in navigating through the many important
changes to NSF policies and procedures. The GPG is available in PDF and HTML.
