Highlights
Technical
assistance provided by the state:
- Assisted
local health department with program design and evaluation for
an unintentional injury grant.
- Provided
injury data and information to a variety of organizations including:
local health departments, child care centers and Headstart, hospitals,
police departments, schools, churches, fire departments, and local
coalitions.
- Three
presentations were made to local health departments describing
local data on child and adolescent injuries.
Injury
activities initiated within the state:
- Collaborating
with the Osteoporosis Advisory Council on elderly fall prevention
programs.
- Developed
"Think Safety" tips and flyers on a monthly
basis and posted on the injury prevention website.
Evaluation
activities within state:
- Conducted
an on-line survey of local health departments, hospitals, and
EMS providers to determine the extent of injury prevention activities
and the current needs in the state.
- Conducted
a survey of the Injury in Colorado recipients to identify how
the information in the report would be used. The majority of respondents
(78%) said they would use the information to educate clients and
staff. The information in the report was also going to be used
for creating handouts and brochures (37%), writing grant proposals
(33%), and influencing policy makers (30%).
