Subscription Product
IR&D;
information is accessible only by DoD components and other U.S. Government
organizations who have permission of DoD.
The Opportunity
Independent Research & Development (IR&D;)
subscription products give DoD agencies the opportunity to gain knowledge
of private industry research projects currently being performed. IR&D;
projects are conducted by DoD contractors on their own initiative, and
information on the progress of these efforts is provided in the form of
IR&D; project summaries. The information is proprietary and, therefore,
not publicly releaseable. IR&D; information is accessible only by DoD components
and other U.S. Government organizations who have permission of DoD.
The Database
An IR&D; project is the smallest segment into which research and development
efforts are divided for purposes of contractor technical management, usually
involving at least one work year of effort. Each project varies in scope
and objective. Several thousand private research efforts are added to
the IR&D; Database each year.
The IR&D; Record
Each IR&D; record contains key information such as the following:
- DTIC® Accession Number
- Title
- Report Date
- Major Corporation Entity
