New Mexico's 77,823,300 acres vary widely in geography, climate, ownership and use. In order for  NRCS to accomplish its mission and provide leadership in conservation on our Nation's private lands, it is necessary to periodically assess the status, condition, and trends in soil, water, and other natural resources on these lands. The National Resources Inventory (NRI) was developed to augment NRCS’s soil survey program and provide timely and relevant data on natural resources. The National Resources Inventory (NRI) is designed to scientifically assess the vast natural resources of America's privately owned lands. The links on this page will help you understand more about the NRI and provide valuable statistical information about New Mexico and the United Sates as a whole.
