This site implements much of its appearance using Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) standards 1 and 2.  Earlier versions of many browsers did not implement these standards, or have limited, even incorrect implementations of these standards.  The standards themselves have undergone changes and continued improvement.  Netscape 4.7 and Internet Explorer 4 (and their predecessors) are examples of browsers that do NOT implement these standards, or failed to implement them properly.
