• Protecting Farm Revenue in NH--December 17, 1999 -- The Brookdale Fruit Farm, Inc., located in Hollis, New Hampshire, requires a lot of work to keep up with 200 acres of orchards and 150 acres of fruit and vegetables. But Eleanor Whittemore's family has been making it work for a long time.
  
• Going the Extra Mile--December 16, 1999 -- Minnesota-based Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS) needed extra help to service its crop insurance policy holders after three hurricanes swept through North Carolina, Florida, and Virginia. After word went out, Lance King of Lubbock, Texas, didn't take long to make up his mind to volunteer.

• Clam Growers Catch A Wave--October 7, 1999-- Bill Thompson of Indian River County, Florida, knows the cultivation of clams has changed a lot in the 10 years he's been in the business. "We've learned how to protect our crop better. We stake a second layer of mesh over the seeds to protect them better from predators. Also new techniques to provide better circulation for the young clams help them grow out faster."
  
• Risk Training Helps Latinos Transition from Employee to Employer--October 4, 1999 -- The Rural Development Center (RDC), a project of the Association for Community-Based Education in Salinas, California, has been helping Latino farm workers become self-supporting farmers since 1984--following the donation of 112 acres of land to the Association for Community-Based Education.
