Training Program
Staff from OSCE Central Asia missions discuss lessons learned.

Expanding the knowledge and skill base to cope with the challenges of the changing nature of international relations and the management of international conflicts has always been at the heart of the Institute's work. To better serve the growing demands for the Institute's assistance in this area, the Institute in 1999 established separate programs on Education (focusing on strengthening the ability of schools to teach about international conflict and conflict management) and Training (focusing on equipping international affairs professionals with skills, strategies, and tools in conflict mediation, negotiation, and resolution).

Education Program

The Education Program addresses the needs of educators, students, scholars, international affairs practitioners, and the public to understand the complexities of international conflicts and approaches to peace. The Education Program provides scholarships, intensive teaching seminars, research resources, and curriculum materials.

also available is a teaching guide on international terrorism.
Professional Training Program

The Training Program develops and presents programs that help government officials, military and police personnel, international organization representatives, and leaders of non-governmental organizations—both U.S. and international—improve their conflict management skills. Training in these skills is highly interactive, and draws heavily on the professional experiences of the participants themselves.
