Regulations Federal Travel Regulation (FTR) Overview

This edition of the Federal Travel Regulation (FTR) is the "working copy" of the official 41 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) chapters 300-304, which implements statutory requirements and Executive branch policies for travel by federal civilian employees and others authorized to travel at government expense.

The FTR is promulgated by the Administrator of General Services under the applicable authorities reflected at the beginning of each part of the regulation. The FTR governs temporary duty travel allowances (chapter 301); relocation allowances (chapter 302); payment of expenses connected with the death of certain employees (chapter 303); and payment from a non-federal source for travel expenses (chapter 304). Chapter 300 includes a general introduction and agency reporting requirements.

FTR amendments are officially published in the Federal Register and the CFR.
