ERA Welcome Message

Welcome to the Electronic Records Archives (ERA) website. Whether you are a researcher interested in NARA’s holdings, a federal employee who produces records that might be stored in ERA, or a NARA staff member interested in the most recent progress made in this strategic initiative, we hope you will find the information on this site valuable to you.

ERA is NARA’s strategic response to the challenge of electronic records. ERA will authentically preserve and provide access to any kind of electronic record, free from dependency on any specific hardware or software, enabling NARA to carry out its mission into the future.

ERA Program Director

Dr. Kenneth Thibodeau

The ERA Program Director (PD), Dr. Kenneth Thibodeau is charged with the responsibility for managing the operational scope of the Electronic Records Archives Program Management Office (PMO). The PD’s operational responsibilities includes managing work, performance, budget, and schedule in accordance with Federal statutory guidelines and industry best practices that are consistent and lead to the accomplishment of NARA’s strategic goals.

ERA Executive Officer

Mr. James. McKan

The ERA Executive Officer (XO), James McKan works for the PD to provide overall program management and direction for ERA implementation consistent with the accomplishment of NARA’s strategic goals. The XO’s operational responsibilities include PMO staff supervision and hiring, program oversight to ensure the effective performance of day-to-day PMO functions, and to act as the PD in his absence.
