Training in Clinical Research Program
A collaboration between the NIH Clinical Center
and the University of Pittsburgh

The Clinical Center, in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh, has developed a program designed to broaden clinical research training opportunities. The program is designed to teach a diverse group of individuals--ranging from the clinical research fellow to the doctorally prepared pharmacist or nurse--how to conduct high quality clinical research involving human subjects.

The program consists of an integrated core curriculum that is taught over an intensive 8-week summer session beginning in July 2004. Trainees are required to spend the first 5 days of the summer session in residence at the University of Pittsburgh. The summer program is then supplemented by additional courses offered at the Clinical Center via videoconferencing. Participants in the program have the option of receiving a Certificate in Clinical Research (15 credits) or a Master of Science in Clinical Research (30 credits) from the University of Pittsburgh.

Applications for the 2004-2005 program will be available in the Clinical Center, Office of Clinical Research Training and Medical Education, Building 10, Room B1L403 beginning November 1. Tuition for the 2004-2005 academic year is $480 per credit, with partial tuition waivers for some courses. The room charge for the 5-day summer residency is $100. Prospective participants should consult with their NIH institute or center regarding the official training nomination procedure. For additional information or to apply, visit the website at http://www.pitt.edu/~tcrp. The deadline for applying is March 1, 2004.
