The Physical Therapy Section at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is advancing the clinical affiliation program by providing opportunities for graduate, post graduate and academicians to participate in a clinical research training program in support of ongoing clinical research trials and other scientific investigations at the NIH. The purpose of the program is to provide the opportunity for persons to review, conduct, excecute, and to publish research. The area of clinical research will be based on the patient populations with rare diagnoses in the areas of oncology, neurology, orthopedics, cardiopulmonary and pediatrics. The program is non-degree and will begin 9/1/2000.
Application review will begin February through May 2000 for selection.
Interested parties should have three years of clinical experience, submit
a resume, two page letter of intent expressing why they would like
to participate in clinical research at the NIH and two letters of recommendation.
Ideas for research will be mutually generated from the physical therapy
staff based on current and future protocols, and subject availability
. Individuals have the choice of selecting a one year sabbatical
or > 16 week training program.
