The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

     Pvt. 2 David L. Waters, 19, of Auburn, Calif., died Oct. 14 in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his convoy vehicle.  Waters was assigned to the Army's 2^nd Battalion, 14^th Infantry Regiment, 10^th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.
