CONTRACTS

 

NAVY

 

            Bechtel Bettis Inc., Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, West Mifflin, Pa., is being awarded a $500,500,000 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-98-C-4064) for Naval nuclear propulsion work at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory.  Work will be performed in West Mifflin, Pa.  Contract funds in the amount of $270,050,000 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  No completion date or additional information is provided on nuclear propulsion contracts.   The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C. is the contracting activity.

 

            KAPL Inc., Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Schenectady, N.Y., is being awarded a $145,200,000 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-00-C-4011) for Naval nuclear propulsion work at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory.  Work will be performed in Schenectady, N.Y.  Contract funds in the amount of $101,530,000 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  No completion date or additional information is provided on nuclear propulsion contracts.  The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C. is the contracting activity.

 

AIR FORCE

 

            General Electric Co., Cincinnati, Ohio, is being awarded a $12,893,314 cost sharing contract.  The objective of the Power and Thermal Technologies for Air and Space Multi-megawatt Electric Power System program is to demonstrate in a ground test multi-megawatt power system for military applications.  The major power system components include a gas turbine, superconducting generator, power conditioner and thermal management.  The superconducting generator technology development is the emphasis of this effort while the gas turbine and power conditioner are anticipated to be commercial off the shelf components.  At this time, $100,000 of the funds has been obligated.  This work will be complete by February 2008.  Solicitation began June 2004 and negotiations were completed October 2004.  Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity (FA8650-04-G-2466).

 

DEFENSE COMMISSARY AGENCY

 

            Great Atlantic News LLC, dba:  The News Group LP is being awarded a firm fixed contract for an estimated amount of $7,985,535 to provide, distribute, and merchandise (in-store) DeCA selected commercial magazines.  Work will be performed at various locations throughout the United States with a contract completion date of Oct. 31, 2006.   Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  Sixteen firms were solicited and three proposals were received.  The contracting activity is the Defense Commissary Agency, Resale Contracting Division, Resale Services Support Branch, 1300 E Avenue, Fort Lee, VA 23801-1800.  (HDEC02-05-D-0001)

 

ARMY

 

            Delta Industries L.L.P.*, East Granby, Conn., was awarded on Oct. 7, 2004, a delivery order amount of $951,750 as part of a $17,075,100 firm-fixed-price contract for a Cylinder Assembly with an M1 Application.  Work will be performed in East Granby, Conn., and is expected to be completed by Oct. 10, 2009.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  There were two bids solicited on April 16, 2004, and three bids were received.  The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Warren, Mich., is the contracting activity (W56HZV-04-D-0202).

 

            Loc Performance Products Inc.*, Plymouth, Mich., was awarded on Oct. 8, 2004, a delivery order amount of $148,680 as part of a $5,947,200 firm-fixed-price contract for Towbars.  Work will be performed in Tracy, Calif., and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2009.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  There were an unknown number of bids solicited via the World Wide Web on May 17, 2004, and 21 bids were received.  The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Warren, Mich., is the contracting activity (W56HZV-04-D-0263).
