There
are several ways of obtaining National Health Care Survey (NHCS) data.
NCHS
Publications: NHCS
data are published in the National Center for Health Statistics Vital and
Health Statistics Series 13 reports and the Vital and Health Statistics
Advance Data reports. A listing of reports from each component NHCS
survey can be found on the web page for each of those surveys, as well as
the National Center for Health Statistics homepage. Often there is a
direct link that will allow you to view and/or download a PDF version of
the reports(s) that may be of interest to you. If there is no PDF
version currently available, a hard copy of any of the listed reports can
be ordered from the:

Data
Highlights and Health E-Stats: NHCS
data are also published in electronic form in NCHS Health E-Stats that can
be accessed from the National Center for Health Statistics Web site. Click
here. Direct links to selected Data Highlights and/or Health E-Stats related to
a particular NHCS survey can also be found on the Web site for those
surveys.
Public-Use Data Files: In
addition to published NHCS data, there are several options for accessing
NHCS micro-data for your own analysis and use. NHCS micro-data are
available on Public-Use Data files that can be accessed from direct links
on the independent web sites for each of the surveys that comprise the NHCS.
Along with the Public-Use Data files are direct links to other materials
related to the Public-Use Data file such as, the data file documentation,
survey questionnaire, sample design, data collection procedures,
estimation procedures, and reliability of estimates. Public-Use Data

Statistical
Export and Tabulation System (SETS): NHCS
micro-data are also available on the Statistical Export and Tabulation
System (SETS) that gives data users the tools to access and manipulate
large data files on their personal computers. SETS 2.0 has been
optimized for use with Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT. To

The
Research Data Center (RDC): The
Research Data Center (RDC), located at the National Center for Health
Statistics (NCHS) headquarters in Hyattsville, Maryland, allows data users
access to data that would not otherwise be permissible to analyze because
confidentiality restrictions, such as, State, county, and smaller area
