The Epidemiology Program Office ceased to exist after 30 September 2004, due to a CDC reorganization process. Funding for the support of the Medical Examiner and Coroner Information Sharing Program (MECISP) ended on August 31st. 2004. Until further notice: a) the MECISP website will not routinely be updated, b) e-mails addressed to MECISP will not receive a response from MECISP.

You will find helpful information at the National Association of Medical Examiners website http://www.TheNAME.org/ for inquiries about wanting to be a forensic pathologist or learning more about forensic pathology. Select the option "So you want to be a medical examiner".


The Medical Examiner and Coroner Information Sharing Program's (MECISP), MMWR Recommendations and Reports publication of "Medical Examiners, Coroners, and Terrorism - A Guidebook for Surveillance and Case Management" is avaialble as MMWR Vol. 53, No. RR-8. The report is posted on MMWR's website were it can be downloaded and distributed electronically.
