One More Round-Up: The Old West Once Again on the Silver Screen

The Herbert Hoover Library and Museum is once again putting the west back in West Branch. Come out and relive the golden days of the old west as it was shown in Hollywood movies. Good guys will be wearing white hats, leading ladies will be strong-minded, sidekicks will be trusty, and bad guys will be as nefarious as ever.

July Event
An Old Fashioned Independence Day
- July 4
The event begins at 1:30 pm and is repeated at 3 pm.
- Free program. All activities will take place in the auditorium of the Hoover Museum.
The program will begin at 1:30 with music from the Marengo Civil War Band and will be followed by theatrical perfomances by the Presidential Troupe which includes Samuel Adams, Mary Ball Washington, James Madison, and John and Abigail Adams. The program will last a little over an hour and be repeated again at 3:00.
At 7:00 pm the Iowa City Community Theatre will be presenting a performance of "Cast Your Vote in Song." This is a historical revue of Presidential Campaign songs in America. There is a free will donation for the performance on the 4th. Additional performances are on July 2 and 3rd at 7:00, tickets are available at the door.

Family Night Performances
- Every Wednesday evening in July and August
5-8 p.m.
- Free Admission to all the galleries! Come and view the film "American Castles: Presidential Estates." Visit the National Park Service for special programs on life in early West Branch from 6-8 pm, weather permitting.

The Moving Wall
- July 11-17
- A traveling replica of the Vietnam memorial will be on the National Park Service grounds and will be open to the public with no admission charge.

Hooverfest

- Free Admission all weekend! Live entertainment under the big tent and the best patriotic concert and fireworks show in Eastern Iowa!
September Event
Laura Ingalls Wilder/Prairie Heritage Day
- September 6
The event begins at 1:30 pm and is repeated at 3 pm.
- Free program. Labor Day means the end of summer and a time to celebrate once of America's great authors - Laura Ingalls Wilder. These programs offer frontier music from the Marengo Civil War Band as well as an apppearance from a certain "Mrs. Wilder." In addition to the programs in the Library's Auditorium, the National Park Service offers special tours of the tall grass prairie that is part of the historic site.

- A display of holiday trees decorated in themes relating to Christmas traditions.
