Registration--How do I register for DTIC service?
You will need to request and complete a registration form if you are a U.S. Government contractor. If your organization is a U.S. Government agency, you may be able to register over the telephone or by fax.

Registration--Is there a fee to register with DTIC?
There is no fee to register. However, there are fees associated with many products. To learn more about DTIC prices, see DTIC's Pricing Schedule.

Registration--How can I quickly register with DTIC?
This depends on your organization.

· DoD organizations requesting access to unclassified information can register over the phone or by fax. For classified information, a DD Form 1540 must be completed and signed by your DoD approving official.

· Other U.S. Government agencies requesting unclassified/unlimited distribution information can register over the phone. For limited or classified information, a DD Form 1540 must be completed and signed by your designated official.

· All others must complete a DD Form 1540, and have it signed by their contract monitor. In addition, contractors must complete a DD Form 2345 if they wish to receive export-controlled information.

No, you must complete the newest form that is dated Jul 2001.

Registration--Why do I have to register with DTIC in order to get a document?
Because of the nature of the information in our collection, DTIC is mandated to serve a restricted user community. The unclassified, unlimited portion of our collection is made available through the National Technical Information Service and through DTIC's Public STINET service: (http://stinet.dtic.mil).

Registration--How many contracts does my organization have registered with DTIC?
You can view your organization's registered contracts by accessing the Dissemination Authority List on the WWW (http://www.dtic.mil/dal/).

Registration--I completed the registration application several weeks ago and I have not heard from DTIC yet. When will I receive my user code?
The time it takes to register with DTIC depends on your organization. Contractors and subcontractors who complete a DD Form 1540, take the longest to process due to the need to obtain approval from their sponsors. When DTIC receives the DD Form 1540 from the sponsor, it is processed into our system within 3 days unless there is a problem requiring resolution. You will receive a packet from DTIC's Registration Team notifying you of your user code.

We are not permitted to give out User Codes. Please contact DTIC's Registration Team (703) 767-8273/DSN 427-8273) and they will give you the name of the DTIC focal point at your organization. DTIC supports programs for potential contractors, small businesses, historically black colleges and universities/minority institutions, and university research initiative participants.

The DoD Potential Contractor Program provides technical information support, through DTIC, to organizations and individuals with adequate research and development capabilities. Registration--When is a new DD Form 2345 needed?
Your DD Form 2345 is good for 5 years providing that none of the information changes. A revision must be submitted sooner if information changes.

Registration--I have a DD Form 2345 and was told that my organization was not registered with DTIC so I could not order from DTIC. Why not?
If your organization is not registered, you must complete a DD Form 1540 to register.

Registration--Is it necessary for DLIS to approve the DD Form 2345?
Yes. You will not be able to receive export-controlled data without DLSC's approval.

Registration--What is the status of my DD Form 2345 that I sent to DLIS?
DTIC has no control over the time that DLIS takes to approve your DD Form 2345. When DLIS approves the form, they will send you a copy with your certification number in the mail. You may want to call DLIS on 1-800-352-3572 to check on the status of your request.

There are fees for many of our products and services. To order products and services we need to make sure that you have a method of payment. DTIC does not accept cash, checks, or money orders.

Registration--Why do I have to wait for the limited distribution document I requested on a DD Form 55?
Your request for a limited distribution document must be validated by the releasing agency. Releasing agencies have 90 days to respond to requests. Some respond more quickly than others. Once the request is approved, we process it.

Registration--What happens if DTIC does not receive the DD Form 55 within the 90 days?
The request is cancelled by the Registration Team, and the requester is notified.

Registration--Can an online DD Form 55 order be cancelled over the phone?
An online DD Form 55 order can be cancelled online by the requester if it is done on the same day that the order was placed. After that, you must call DTIC's Registration Team at (703) 767-8271/DSN 427-8271, or 1-800-225-3842 (Form 55--menu 1, option 1, sub-option 4). They can cancel your order.

This can be done, but it is suggested that the request be made through DTIC for validation purposes.

Registration--I am a contractor. What contract number should I use if I have mulitple contract numbers?
Each contract should be registered separately. This will ensure that you will be authorized access to information in all the subject areas that you are interested in. When you order a document, you should order that document under the contract that you need it for.
