The Changing Wind

In this time of tremendous change and turmoil about us, the difficult thing about being a leader in some shape or form, is to sort out that which you can change and affect from that which you will have no bearing upon.

A wise gentleman once said, "We cannot change the wind, but we can adjust the sail." All too often, the main thrust of our lives is to change the wind which the Scriptures tell us we neither know from where it comes or to where it goes.

As we go through all the challenges and trials of each day, to sit back and find those things we can change or affect is the biggest accomplishment. Too often tremendous energy goes into futile attempts to do something about that which we cannot change.  Remember, stress is what happens when your gut says, "No!" but your mouth says, "Of course, I’d be glad to."

Finally, "The gift of happiness belongs to those who unwrap it."  What can you change today?  More importantly, what won’t change no matter what effort you put into it?  Do what you can, not what you can’t.
