Light of the Army

by SGT David H. Kiese

Chaplain Assistants carry the flame
So lost hope is never to blame.
The soldiers are cared for and never alone
For we are the tools from God’s holy throne.
We are blessed with a gift and a call
To help our dear soldiers always stand tall.

The flame of our Father, always is near
For Chaplain Assistants — always treat it dear.
Our living experience always sets the pace,
For soldier morale to follow and trace.
God is our Boss and commander of all
He will never let his soldiers fall.

The flame of our Chaplain will never go out,
That’s what the job of assistant is all about.
To guard and protect from enemy will
We will keep our Chaplain on top of the hill.
With God as our front, we’ll never give in
For Satan or evil to begin.

So God, at this moment, I ask as I pray
"Please keep us safe as we save the day,
Guide our thoughts and our words and will,
To minister to soldiers and keep them still."
So off to our units and home we go
Your Light of the Army —
        always remember to show.

Seventy-one Mike

Chaplain Assistant is the way to go,
a soldier's friend will try to show
with time to spare, our work below;
to help a troop see the way to go.

Chaplain Assistant is the call for me.
Our eyes are Heavenward, don't you see.
Our God's the Boss, as you try to be
as a patriotic soldier, from sea to sea.

Chaplain Assistants set the pace,
as soldiers try to run the race.
To guard America's beautiful face,
from terrorist threats we set to chase.

Chaplain's Assistants, here we go,
to guard our Chaplain from all foes.
We'll put our lives in front to show
our Faith in God, so here we go!

Chaplain Assistant School is rough.
We passed the test and showed our stuff.
Teamwork was the secret puff,
that saved the day - we didn't scuff

Chaplain Assistants we will be,
to God our thanks will ever be.
To proudly serve in the Army,
Our God and troops and family.
