NHLBI Health Information Network

The Health Information Network of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI HIN) is NHLBI's health information communication link to health professionals. When you join the Health Information Network, you will receive information periodically by email from the Health Information Network about the latest key research findings, clinical advisories, programs, and educational materials available from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. You will be able to access a password-protected unique member profile, which will allow you to select you topic interests, so that you receive only the Health Information Network notices that are likely to be of interest to you. You can also change your preferences at any time in the future, and easily unsubscribe or subscribe to Health Information Network topics at any time.

Health Information Network e-bulletins are brief, with links to more information online. The topic areas include asthma and other lung diseases, blood diseases and resources, cardiovascular diseases, cholesterol, heart attack, high blood pressure, obesity, physical activity, and sleep disorders. The frequency and number of emails received varies according to the number of topics selected by the member, but rarely exceeds three to four per month.

All health professionals, and those currently studying to be health professionals, with an interest in heart, lung, blood, and sleep disorders are encouraged to join. Our current members include dietitians, fitness/recreation specialists, health program managers and planners, health educators and communicators, health professions instructors, health professions students, librarians, information specialists, nurses and nurse practitioners, pharmacists, physicians, physician assistants, teachers and therapists.

Those with an interest in health education materials for special populations will be particularly interested in our wide offerings of materials in that area. Special populations covered by the Health Information Network include African Americans, American Indians and Alaskan Natives, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Children/Youth, Latinos/Hispanics, Older Americans, and Women.
