Bureaus Garner National Communications Awards

Interior bureaus won five awards, two of them partnership productions, in the annual Blue Pencil and Gold Screen competition of the National Association of Government Communicators. The winners received their awards at NAGC's recent communications conference in Denver.

First place winner in the Gold Screen's video category for a news program was Future Quakes--Unlocking the Mysteries of Bay Area Earthquake Faults, U.S. Geological Survey.

In the Blue Pencil's publications category, Status and Trends of the Nation's Biological Resources, U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management, won second place for softcover books. In the Blue Pencil's shoestring budget category, Paradise Lost? The Coastal Prairie of Louisiana and Texas, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Geological Survey, won second place.

The Bureau of Reclamation won second place in the Blue Pencil's visual communications category for calendars, The Bureau of Reclamation: An Educational Chronicle. Winning second place in the Blue Pencil's visual communications category for posters, flyers, and T-shirts was A Tapestry of Time and Terrain, poster, USGS.
