  • an understanding of the concepts, principles, and process of effective risk communication
  • key communication skills for building, maintaining, and repairing strategic stakeholder relationships
  • hands-on practice in strategic risk communication planning, including identification of appropriate tools for effective communication with stakeholders

Our workshops are available to all Defense Agencies, uniformed services, and veteran services personnel that include: Military, Civilian, and Department of Defense contractors working on a DoD project.

Our workshops benefit personnel who interact and communicate with internal and external stakeholders in challenging situations related to:

Engaging the Media Workshops:

Conflict Management Workshops:
This two-day course provides participants with an understanding of the unique nature of the media, as well as hands-on practice of skills and tools to engage the media successfully. The workshop includes discussions on relating media communications to your strategic risk communication planning process, media culture, common traps, and the importance of non-verbal communication when dealing with the media. All participants will have the opportunity for on-camera practice and critique in a variety of situations, including non-crisis, crisis, "ambush," and panel interviews. This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills for productively addressing conflict. Participants will learn the dynamics of conflict, sources of conflict, approaches to conflict situations, and techniques for managing conflict in a productive way. Concepts are developed through lecture, individual and small group exercises, on-the-spot problem solving, and case studies. When completed, the participant will understand: - the sources and dynamics of conflict - the role of emotions in conflict - differences and similarities among facilitation, mediation, and negotiation - applying appropriate conflict management approaches to given situations

Course Description:
This three-day ISEERB approved course provides instruction on the negotiation and communication skills necessary to achieve productive agreements with regulatory and public stakeholders. The class aims to make attendees more knowledgeable and comfortable in the negotiation process in order to have confidence in a negotiation. It stresses the human, organizational and public aspects of building constructive relationships with stakeholders and installation management. Case studies and role playing provide an opportunity for every student to apply the information presented in class.
