The Cancer Monologues - a Play by and for Chicanos to Raise Cancer Awareness

This energetic, interactive, cancer awareness event is sponsored by the Latino/a Research & Policy Center at the University of Colorado at Denver with a Special Population Network grant from the National Cancer Institute, NIH. Using humor and drama, cultural and social issues surrounding cancer screening and treatment are explored in a 40-minute play. Following the performance, the audience is invited to participate in a discussion of the play and its contents. The play is the result of a collaboration among Latino community members, cancer researchers, and Denver's El Centro Su Teatro actors. Everyone is invited to come and see this unique tool used to reach Latino communities in addressing cancer disparities.
