The
DASIS Report: Services Provided by Substance Abuse Treatment Facilities
Highlights
- Based
on SAMHSA's National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS), facilities
with a specially designed treatment program were likely to offer related services.
For example, those with a specially designed treatment program or group for clients
with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders were more likely
to offer mental health assessment and pharmacotherapy; those for pregnant
women were more likely to provide social services, child care assistance, and
domestic violence education; and those for persons with HIV/AIDS to provide testing
services, e.g., for HIV, TB, hepatitis, and STD.
- Testing
services differed more than other types of services by type of facility ownership.
Tribal government facilities were least likely to provide blood alcohol testing
and drug/alcohol urine screening. Private for-profit facilities were least
likely to provide testing for hepatitis, HIV, STD, and TB.
- Facilities
with a managed care contract were more likely than those without a managed care
contract to offer mental health assessment (53 vs. 34 percent), family therapy
(86 vs. 68 percent), and pharmacotherapy (50 vs. 32 percent).
