We join Congressman Sherrod Brown in opposing new guidelines proposed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which would weaken the "Made in USA" label by allowing products to be labeled as "Made in USA" when as little as 75% of their content and labor originates in the U.S.
As American consumers, we want to buy genuine American products made by American workers. The "Made in USA" standard educates consumers, ensures truth in labeling, promotes U.S. businesses, and preserves and creates American jobs.
We call upon the FTC to protect American consumers and workers by keeping the current standard that "all or virtually all" of the product must be made in America to bear the "Made in USA" label. Let's make sure that "Made in the USA" means what it says!
