students who come to NIH for five days of mentoring, seminars, tours
of the laboratories, and other career enhancing opportunities.

Minority Biomedical
Research Support
Multi-project research grants awarded to minority institutions or institutions
with significant numbers of minorities. NIAID co-funds projects within
its scientific mission. The program is administered by the National Institute
of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS).

Minority Predoctoral Fellowships

NIH-wide
program that provides funding under National Research Service Award guidelines.
Gives minority predoctoral students a stipend and a limited amount of
tuition funds.

Research Supplements
for Underrepresented Minorities
See our RSUM overview. Supports minority high school,
undergraduate, graduate, and medical students, as well as postdoctoral
scientists and faculty members. Awards are supplements to funded research
grants. Provides salary, supplies and travel. Has been a highly successful
program with close to 40 percent of postdocs and faculty participants
going on to receive their own independent support.
