USDA APPOINTS ALASKA FARM SERVICE AGENCY STATE COMMITTEE
                    MEMBERS
  
        WASHINGTON, April 19, 2002   The U.S. Department of
  Agriculture announced the appointment of the three State
  Committee members for the Farm Service Agency (FSA) in
  Alaska.
  
        FSA State Committees are responsible for the
  general direction and supervision of state FSA programs. 
  The committee keeps farmers informed of Agency program
  activities and resolves appeals and complaints.  Members
  maintain cooperative relationships with the agribusiness
  community.  The Alaska State Committee members are as
  follows:
     · William Dix Ward, from Delta Junction, is Chairperson
     of the committee.  He and his wife own and operate a
     ranch and raise hay, grass seed, field nursery plants
     and Rocky Mountain Elk;
     · Julia Kate Kratzer, from Nenana-Fairbanks, raises
     reindeer and nursery trees on her family farm
     operation; and
     · F. Bruce Willard, from Homer, owns and operates a beef
     cattle enterprise on land he homesteaded.  He also
     operates a custom slaughter facility for beef cattle
     and game.
  
        FSA ensures the well-being of American agriculture,
  the environment and the American public through efficient
  and equitable administration of farm commodity programs;
  farm ownership, operating and emergency loans;
  conservation and environmental programs; emergency and
  disaster assistance; domestic and international food
  assistance and international export credit programs.
