Volume 1, Number 1 ----- Spring/Summer 1998

The NCI and the PLCO screening centers would like to send a special welcome to the newest screening center, The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). On January 26, 1998 UAB hosted a gala kickoff event at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. About 100 community partners attended the event where Dr. Otis Brawley from NCI and Dr. Fred Stallings from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were the guest speakers.
