  MULTIMEDIA RESOURCES

Using Internet Multimedia - If you don't know a "plugin" from a "helper app" then this area might get you started. This area will help you understand the variety of multimedia resources available on the Internet and how to start taking advantage of them.

Interactive Projects - Chat with NASA, tour the cosmos, design your own airplane, watch a shuttle launch, join a team of scientists to plan a mission to Mars and more...

On-line Multimedia - NASA has a spectacular array of on-line multimedia resources such as image archives, movie clips, interactive imagery, WebCams, and NASA TV via the Internet.

NASA Pictures, Photographs and Images - We often are asked what types of NASA pictures are available and how to find them. This resource page outlines alternatives for obtaining NASA photographs and scientific images.

Satellite Tracking - Did you know you can track the Shuttle and other objects in real-time or predict when you could see them move across the sky? In this area you can learn about the tools available for satellite tracking.

Models - Cassini/Huygens Spacecraft, Hubble Space Telescope, International Space Station, and Mars spacecraft. These are just a few of the models that you can download and assemble. Check out these sites with skill levels that range from beginner to advanced.

Central Operation of Resources for Educators (CORE) - Educational materials such as videotape programs, slide sets, CD-ROMs, and DVDs are available for a minimal fee from CORE. CORE is a worldwide distribution center for NASA's educational multimedia materials.

NASA Liftoff to Learning Video Tape Series - is a sixteen-part videotape series. The videos contain footage from space flights, and each program comes with a printed video resource guide that provides valuable background information for teachers, resources for additional study, and practical hands-on demonstrations of some of the concepts presented in the videotapes.

NASA's Kids Science News Network (KSNN)™ - is a Web- and video-based program for everyone: students, educators, parents, or anyone else who wants to know why things work or what makes things happen. The target audience is K-5. Each broadcast is presented in an inquiry-based format that begins with a 1-minute, "streaming" video newsbreak from the KSNN Web site and is then followed up with a collection of resources. All programs are available in English and Spanish.

NASA SCIence Files Series™ - is a series of 60-minute instructional programs that are free, interactive, closed-captioned, and standards-based. Each program is designed to integrate math, science, geography, and technology in grades 3-5. The broadcasts are accompanied by Web-based resources for students, educators and parents.

NASA CONNECT™ - is a series of 30-minute instructional programs that are free, interactive, closed-captioned, and standards-based. Each program uses NASA projects, facilities, and researchers to emphasize mathematics, science, geography, and technology in grades 5-8. Each show has a lesson guide, a classroom activity, and a Web-based component.

NASA LIVE™ - is a series of synchronous (two-way) videoconferencing programs for learning, instructional enrichment, and professional development for students and faculty by engaging them in an interactive, virtual environment with NASA researchers. Educators (K-12) and college/university faculty, college/university students, professional organizations, and student organizations may schedule a videoconference.

NASA's Destination Tomorrow™ - is a series of 30-minute educational television programs that focuses on NASA research, past, present, and future, and is designed for educators, parents, and adult (lifelong) learners. Each program follows a magazine format with segments ranging in length from 3-5 and 6-8 minutes. An associated 508 compliant Web site provides summaries of stories and links to related program material. This program is also available in Spanish.

NASA's Digital Learning Network (DLN) - This network of videoconferencing programs enhance NASA's capability to deliver unique content by linking customers with one or more NASA Centers in an integrated fashion.
