toxic in otherwise healthy patients age 70 and older than in younger patients,
according to research published in the October 11, 2001, issue of New England
Journal of Medicine.

Radiation Before Surgery Reduces Risk of Rectal Cancer Recurrence (Posted: 08/30/2001) - Patients who received short-term radiotherapy prior to surgery for rectal cancer had a lower rate of local disease recurrence two years later than patients treated with surgery alone, report the authors of an international multicenter clinical trial published in the August 30, 2001, New England Journal of Medicine.
