What is High Energy Physics?

"The Science of Matter, Energy, Space and Time." 

  • The Physics of the Fundamental Forces and Matter in the Universe (which strongly overlaps with Astrophysics and Cosmology!)

How can I learn about the Science?

What does the Office of High Energy Physics (OHEP) do?

We provide policy, overall planning and funding the U.S. research in High
Energy Physics (also called Particle Physics).  This involves experimental and theoretical research as well as research in particle acceleration.

Where do we do the Science?

We do experiments at particle accelerator labs in the U.S. and abroad.

We also do non-accelerator experiments underground, on the ground and in space.

Who does our Science?

We fund Experimental, Theoretical and Accelerator Physicists at Laboratories and Universities.

What kind of things are done for HEP Education and Public Outreach (EPO)?
