The purpose of the United States Army Reserve Ambassador Program is to establish a group of influential volunteers at the state level to promote awareness of the Army Reserve and the identified goals and objectives of the Chief, Army Reserve (CAR).
The Ambassador Program was created in April 1998. No set number of ambassadors has been established, though the general goal is at least two per state. States with a large number of metropolitan areas generally will have more than two ambassadors.
The Army Reserve Ambassador's mission is to serve as the CAR's local eyes, ears and voice. They promote each goal and objective the CAR identifies as a priority. The ambassador gives Army Reserve strategic communications briefings to civic organizations and key leaders at the local and state level. Seek out local groups to explain the full capabilities, skills and value the Army Reserve provides to the community. They establish open lines of communication with the local community to identify and gain insight into their needs and our ability to meet them. A meeting is held once a year to review Reserve programs and overall Army Reserve progress; and they provide direct feedback on activities to the CAR's representative.
The Ambassadors are appointed by the CAR, in coordination with a nomination from Regional Readiness Command/General Officer (RRC/GO) commanders, for an initial term of three years with renewable extensions at the pleasure of the CAR. The nominee cannot be a reservist.
Each RRC has an ambassador coordinator. For further information about your state, please call or email the RRC coordinator listed at the top of each state page.
