ABM Implements E-Sweeps Idea for FAR/DFARS/NAPS Tool
How many times have you thought, "If only I had a tool that allowed me to?(fill in the blank!)" Often, we have an idea for something we think others would find helpful as well, but don't quite know what to do with it. Joyce Blackwell from Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) Charleston had a great idea for a tool that would allow side-by-side comparison of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), the Defense FAR Supplement (DFARS), and the Navy Acquisition Procedures Supplement (NAPS). When Admiral Bill Jenkins, Director, Acquisition and Business Management decided to make it easy for members of the Navy/Marine Corps acquisition workforce to share their ideas with him for improving ABM Online by running the first-ever ABM Online E-Sweeps, Joyce Blackwell was ready with her suggestion.
Contestants were asked to describe, in 100 words or less, one change that they would make to ABM Online, ABM's one-stop website for all information related to facilitating the efficient and effective operation of the Navy's acquisition system. A number of members of the workforce, including Joyce, responded!
The FAR/DFARS/NAPS Comparison Tool, requested by Joyce, is now available at ABM Online [www.abm.rda.hq.navy.mil/far_tool.html]. The tool allows you to view FAR, DFARS, and NAPS subparts simultaneously through the use of a frames-enabled browser. The tool was designed using the FAR as a base in order to show the corresponding DFARS and/or NAPS subpart. The tool provides direct links to the official FAR, DFARS and NAPS sites. ABM plans on unveiling other E-Sweeps ideas in the upcoming weeks. POC Deborah Tronic [602-2842 or tronic.deborah@hq.navy.mil]
